WEBTOON Entertainment and Disney Announce New Digital Comics Platform

WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. and The Walt Disney Company have entered into a non-binding term sheet to develop a new digital comics platform. This platform will feature over 35,000 comics from Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios, making them available in one location for the first time. Disney+ subscribers will have access to a curated selection of content on the new platform as part of their subscription. Additionally, Disney plans to acquire a 2% equity interest in WEBTOON Entertainment. The collaboration aims to deepen fan engagement and provide new audiences with access to iconic stories. The proposed equity investment and commercial collaboration are subject to definitive agreements and customary closing conditions.
