Eco Wave Power and BladeRanger Launch Drone-Powered Maintenance for Wave Energy Systems

Eco Wave Power Global AB (publ) has announced a collaboration with BladeRanger Ltd. to introduce drone-powered maintenance for onshore wave energy systems. This innovative approach was demonstrated at Eco Wave Power’s grid-connected project in Jaffa Port, Israel, where BladeRanger’s drones cleaned and inspected the floaters, essential components for transforming waves into renewable electricity. The use of autonomous drones is expected to lower operating expenses, reduce downtime, and boost energy output, making wave power more competitive with other renewable sources. Historically, operational costs at Eco Wave Power’s sites have reached up to 4% of project CAPEX annually, but drone-based maintenance could significantly reduce these costs and enhance system reliability. The companies plan to explore a long-term strategic collaboration, potentially leading to widespread deployment of drone technology at Eco Wave Power’s projects worldwide.
