Semler Scientific Settles False Claims Act Allegations for $29.75 Million
Semler Scientific, Inc. has entered into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services to resolve allegations of civil violations of the False Claims Act. The allegations pertain to the submission of false claims to Medicare Part B for tests performed using the FloChec and QuantaFlo devices. As part of the settlement, Semler Scientific agreed to pay $29.75 million, including $5.2 million to relators, and $390,000 for attorneys’ fees and costs. The company also entered into a corporate integrity agreement with the Office of Inspector General of HHS, committing to compliance measures and reporting for five years. Semler Scientific did not admit any wrongdoing in connection with the allegations.
