XORTX Appoints Mika Grasso as Co-CEO and Provides Update on Gout Program XRx-026
XORTX Therapeutics Inc. provided a corporate update and announced the appointment of Mika Grasso as Co-CEO, responsible for finance and public markets, effective June 15, 2026. Grasso, who has served as a director since March 2026, joins Allen Davidoff in the Co-CEO role. The company is prioritizing its lead program, XRx-026, for the treatment of gout, targeting a $700 million annual market. Following a Type B meeting with the FDA, XORTX is preparing an Investigational New Drug (IND) application using the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway. The updated clinical plan for XRx-026 includes a two-part study (XRX-OXY-102) to characterize the pharmacokinetics of XORLOβ’ and evaluate its therapeutic equivalence to allopurinol. XORTX aims to advance XRx-026 toward marketing approval within the next 18 months. Additionally, the company is progressing XRx-008 for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), with plans to submit an NDA for accelerated approval following a successful Phase 3 trial. Recent financing has enabled increased activity across these drug development disciplines.
