2026-04-01SEC Filing 6-K (0001171843-26-002168)

Westport Fuel Systems Inc. announced that its joint venture, Cespira, will have its HPDI™ fuel system technology utilized by Volvo in on-road testing of heavy-duty trucks powered by hydrogen. Volvo plans a commercial launch before 2030. This on-road testing is a key step in demonstrating Cespira’s hydrogen HPDI fuel system as a cost-effective, zero-carbon fuel solution that offers high power, torque, and efficiency. The system, which is a variation of the established HPDI system used for LNG, can achieve nearly 100% CO2 reductions compared to diesel trucks. This technology allows OEMs to maintain existing engine architecture and leverage current investments and expertise. The hydrogen HPDI system is positioned as a high-performance solution for climate neutrality in heavy-duty transport and can be classified as a Zero Emissions Vehicle under EU standards. Hydrogen, particularly green hydrogen produced from water, offers energy security and independence, making it an attractive future fuel.
