Millicom International Cellular S.A. Completes Full Acquisition of Coltel in Colombia

Millicom International Cellular S.A. has successfully acquired the remaining 32.5% equity stake in Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. E.S.P. ("Coltel"), formerly held by La Nación. This acquisition follows the earlier tender offer for Telefónica’s controlling stake and marks the final step in Millicom’s strategic consolidation of Coltel. The integration of Coltel is expected to enhance Millicom's scale and investment capacity, enabling accelerated nationwide 5G deployment, improved service quality through combined technical capabilities, and support for digital inclusion initiatives in Colombia. This move is strategically important for Millicom to remain competitive in an evolving telecommunications landscape, characterized by competition from global digital platforms and satellite providers.
