Takeda Updates on AMITIZA Antitrust Verdict and FY2025 Results

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited announced that a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts returned a verdict against Takeda in the AMITIZA® (lubiprostone) antitrust litigation, awarding plaintiffs USD 884,943,990 in single damages. These damages are subject to trebling under U.S. antitrust law. The litigation concerns an alleged anticompetitive settlement related to patent litigation for AMITIZA®. Takeda maintains the case lacks merit and intends to vigorously pursue post-trial motions and an appeal, citing potential evidentiary and legal errors during the trial. The company is currently assessing the financial impact and will revise its FY2025 consolidated financial statements and re-file its FY2025 Earnings Report accordingly. Takeda stated that this outcome will not impact FY2025 Core financial results but may affect the FY2026 adjusted free cash flow forecast.
