PowerBank Corporation Executes Interconnection Agreement for Community Solar Project

PowerBank Corporation announced the execution of the Standard Small Generator Interconnection and Operating Agreement (SSGIA) for its 3.15 MW DC Petpeswick community solar project in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This agreement is a key milestone, confirming an approved path to connect the project to the grid. The project has also secured municipal permits and will proceed to environmental permitting, with ground preparation targeted for Fall 2026, subject to final approvals and financing. The Petpeswick project is expected to power approximately 288 homes annually and generate about $1.727 million in lifetime electricity savings for the local community. This initiative aligns with Nova Scotia’s goal of achieving 80% renewable energy by 2030. The community solar model allows renters, businesses, and homeowners to access solar bill credits without rooftop installations. PowerBank is the lead developer, partnering with Trimac Engineering. The company highlights its experience in community solar development, with over 50 MW completed in the U.S. and a development pipeline of over 1 GW. The filing also acknowledges risks associated with project development, including permitting, financing, and potential changes in government incentives.
