Sony Group Corporation Announces Acquisition of Additional Equity in Peanuts Holdings LLC

Sony Group Corporation, through its subsidiaries Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) and Sony Pictures Entertainment, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining 41% equity interest in Peanuts Holdings LLC from WildBrain Ltd. The total purchase price is 630 million Canadian dollars (approximately 460 million U.S. dollars). Upon completion, Sony will indirectly own 80% of Peanuts Holdings LLC, making it a consolidated subsidiary. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. Sony expects to record a remeasurement gain as operating income and is currently assessing the impact on its consolidated financial results. This acquisition aims to further enhance the growth and value of the "PEANUTS" intellectual property by leveraging Sony Group's global network and expertise.
