D-Wave Quantum Inc. Awarded Second Year Funding for SQFab Project
D-Wave Quantum Inc. announced on May 26, 2026, that its subsidiary, Quantum Circuits, LLC, has received second-year funding for the Improved Materials for Superconducting Qubits with Scalable Fabrication (SQFab) project. This project, selected by the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH), is part of the U.S. Department of Warβs Microelectronics Commons program. The funding aims to advance superconducting qubit fabrication and develop next-generation U.S. microelectronics capabilities. D-Wave's CEO, Dr. Alan Baratz, highlighted the growing recognition of quantum computing's role in microelectronics innovation. The SQFab project focuses on improving materials and fabrication methods for superconducting qubits, supporting the development from research to manufacturing and contributing to national security applications. The initiative also aims to bridge the gap between innovation and domestic manufacturing, address supply chain vulnerabilities, and foster a semiconductor workforce.
