National Presto Industries Announces Groundbreaking of Advanced Munitions Production Facility

National Presto Industries, Inc. announced that its subsidiary, National Defense Corporation (NDC), is commencing construction of a new medium caliber ammunition production and test facility in Clear Lake, South Dakota. This $90 million investment aims to meet current and future U.S. Department of Defense ammunition requirements by incorporating modern manufacturing technologies, automation, and scalable production processes. The facility is designed for flexibility and responsiveness to evolving mission needs, reinforcing South Dakota's role in national defense. NDC's President, Todd Anderson, highlighted the facility's design based on collaboration with the DoD and its focus on next-generation technologies, including Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems ammunition. Construction is slated to begin in mid-June 2026, with completion expected in 2028. National Presto Industries operates in three segments: Housewares/Small Appliance, Defense, and Safety.
