The Mosaic Company Announces Idling of Brazilian Facilities and Asset Sale

The Mosaic Company announced on April 8, 2026, that it will idle and demobilize its Araxá Mining and Chemical Complex and related mining activities at the Patrocínio Complex in Brazil. This decision is part of a strategy to reduce costs and redeploy capital, and will result in workforce reductions at both sites. The company also plans to sell the Araxá assets while continuing development of the Niobium opportunity at Patrocínio. Mosaic anticipates recording a pre-tax book impact of $350 to $400 million in the first quarter of 2026, primarily due to asset impairment, severance, and idling costs. The idling is expected to reduce annual phosphate production by approximately 1 million tonnes, with a limited impact on adjusted EBITDA excluding one-time closure costs. Post-transaction, annual capital expenditures and operating expenses are projected to decrease by $20-$30 million and $70-$80 million, respectively.
