Micromem Technologies Inc. Receives Approval for Wearable Gas Sensing Project

Micromem Technologies Inc. has received approval from the Department of National Defence (DND) for the go-forward plans of its wearable gas sensing project. This project, part of an existing collaborative research agreement with the DND and the University of Toronto, will be enhanced by adding two new research members to focus on completing functional wearable prototypes. The DND representative has expressed strong support, with regular progress meetings scheduled. The current phase involves critical software and hardware development for the wearable gas sensing platform, including sensor integration, signal processing, data acquisition, and system miniaturization. The company anticipates that the additional engineering support will accelerate the transition from laboratory technology to field-deployable wearable systems for defense applications, with potential for broader commercial use. Micromem's proprietary nanowire field-effect transistor gas sensing platform shows promise for dual-use applications in defense, industrial safety, environmental monitoring, and personal protection.
