Lantern Pharma Establishes Open-Medicine AI as Separate Entity via Licensing Agreement
On August 3, 2026, Lantern Pharma Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRN) announced the formal establishment of Open-Medicine AI (OMAI) as a separate business entity. This move is designed to commercialize and expand Lantern's multi-agent AI co-scientist platform, formerly known as withZeta.ai. Lantern has executed commercial licensing agreements with OMAI, granting the new company access to Lantern’s models, data, algorithms, and specialized personnel. The formation of OMAI allows the platform to pursue a valuation path and dedicated funding independent of Lantern’s core clinical oncology operations. OMAI will focus on scaling the AI platform beyond its proven foundation in oncology into broader complex disease areas. The initiative is supported by Lantern’s AI Centers of Excellence in Dallas and Bengaluru, India. This strategic restructuring follows the framework established during Lantern’s May 2026 financing round and aims to capture a share of the projected $10 billion AI drug discovery market by 2030. Lantern preserves strategic alignment with OMAI while enabling it to operate as a production-grade tool for global researchers.
