Centrus Energy Corp. Launches Commercial LEU Enrichment Activities

Centrus Energy Corp. has announced the commencement of domestic centrifuge manufacturing to support commercial Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) enrichment activities at its Piketon, Ohio facility. This initiative is part of a multi-billion dollar expansion aimed at meeting a $2.3 billion backlog of LEU sales and targeting future High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) production. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs across Ohio and Tennessee, with new enrichment capacity projected to come online in 2029. The expansion is supported by public and private funding, including potential Department of Energy grants, private capital raised, and existing customer contracts. Centrus also highlights the strategic importance of restoring U.S. uranium enrichment capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign sources, and meeting growing clean energy demands.
