Kyivstar Group Ltd. Acquires Six Solar Power Plants in Lviv Region
Kyivstar Group Ltd. has announced the acquisition of six solar power plants in the Lviv region, with a total installed capacity of 105 megawatts. This acquisition, costing UAH 3.6 billion (USD 80.8 million), is part of Kyivstar's strategy to diversify its energy assets and hedge electricity costs. The acquired solar assets generated approximately UAH 682 million in revenue and UAH 596 million in EBITDA in 2025. Following this acquisition, Kyivstar's green energy generation capacity has increased to 118 MW, capable of producing electricity equivalent to approximately 30% of its current annual consumption. The company will supply electricity from these plants to Ukraine's unified energy system, utilizing green energy tariffs to enhance operational efficiency. This move aligns with Kyivstar's long-term vision of building sustainable infrastructure and investing in Ukraine's economy and renewable energy sector. The company also highlighted other recent inorganic growth initiatives, including acquisitions in the digital healthcare and ride-hailing sectors, and spectrum acquisition to support its mobile network.
