Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) initiated arbitration proceedings against Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) on May 21, 2026. The arbitration, filed with the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), concerns a dispute over an operational support services contract for the UAE nuclear power plant project. KHNP is claiming approximately USD 1.1 billion (KRW 1,661 billion), which represents 3.37% of KEPCO's total equity as of fiscal year 2025. KEPCO plans to defend itself in the arbitration process. This arbitration follows a previous disclosure regarding the same matter, and an existing arbitration with the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) is expected to be withdrawn. The claim amount is based on an exchange rate of 1 USD to 1,509.7 KRW as of May 21, 2026, and is disputed by KEPCO.
