Hydro One Files for Major Transmission Line Projects
Hydro One announced on May 19, 2026, that it has submitted applications to the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) for two significant transmission line projects: the Northeast Power Line and the Longwood to Lakeshore Transmission Line. The Northeast Power Line, estimated at $1.8 billion, will enhance transmission capacity between northeast and northwest Ontario by approximately 900 MW, with completion expected in 2029. The Longwood to Lakeshore Transmission Line, an approximately $1.2 billion investment, is designed to supply 550 MW of electricity to southwest Ontario, supporting local industries and agri-business, with completion anticipated in 2030. Both projects offer proximate First Nations a 50% equity stake through Hydro Oneβs partnership model. These initiatives are part of Hydro Oneβs broader strategy to invest in infrastructure to meet increasing electricity demand in Ontario and support economic growth. The company also provided its financial overview as of December 31, 2025, reporting $39.7 billion in assets and $9 billion in annual revenues for 2025.
