Cat Lake First Nation and First Mining Gold Reach Milestone Agreement on All-Season Access Road
First Mining Gold Corp. has entered into a landmark agreement with Cat Lake First Nation to develop an all-season access road to the Cat Lake First Nation community in northwestern Ontario. First Mining will provide up to $4 million to fund the initial stages of the project, including permitting, clearing, and engineering design, with work set to commence in summer 2026. This agreement is a significant step for the development of First Mining's Springpole Gold Project, as year-round infrastructure is crucial for its long-term viability and for ensuring local community benefits. The road will utilize existing forestry roads and new construction to connect Cat Lake First Nation to Sioux Lookout. This initiative aligns with Cat Lake First Nation's long-standing priority to end decades of isolation and improve safety, healthcare, and living costs. The project has received support from the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, and First Mining is awaiting final partnership from Ontario. The agreement also respects the cultural and ecological conditions set forth by the Anishinaabe-led Impact Assessment.
