DIANA SHIPPING INC. Amendment to Schedule 13D Filing for GENCO SHIPPING & TRADING LTD

This filing is an Amendment No. 7 to the Schedule 13D originally filed by Diana Shipping Inc. ("Diana") concerning Genco Shipping & Trading Limited ("Genco"). Diana Shipping Inc. is amending its previous filings to supplement information regarding its proposal to acquire all outstanding Genco shares not owned by Diana for $23.50 per share. Genco's Board of Directors rejected this proposal. In response, Diana announced its intention to proceed with electing its nominated directors to Genco's Board at the upcoming Annual Meeting. Diana has also filed a preliminary proxy statement to solicit shareholder support for its proposals, including the repeal of by-law amendments and the exploration of strategic alternatives for Genco to maximize shareholder value, as well as the election of its six director nominees.
