Canaan Inc. Wins Bid to Provide Hash-to-Heat Equipment to Nordic District Heating Network
Canaan Inc. has been selected to provide hash-to-heat equipment, specifically Avalon A1566HA series hydro-cooled units, to a district heating network in the Nordic region. This project involves supplying approximately 8 MW of capacity, with an initial 2 MW already operational and a follow-on order for an additional 6 MW. The company's technology allows for the integration of high-density compute infrastructure into existing district heating systems by producing high-grade hot water at around 80 degrees Celsius. This solution offers a more sustainable and economically efficient alternative to traditional heating systems, potentially accelerating the replacement of outdated fossil fuel-based solutions. Canaan's Chairman and CEO, Nangeng Zhang, highlighted the strength of their technology and engineering in developing this heat reuse solution, emphasizing its importance for a sustainable energy future. The 8 MW project is expected to provide reliable heating to approximately 2,800 homes.
