BP Chair Removed Effective Immediately
BP p.l.c. announced on May 26, 2026, that the Board has unanimously decided that Albert Manifold will no longer serve as Chair and Director with immediate effect. This decision follows serious concerns raised to the Board regarding governance standards, oversight, and conduct. Amanda Blanc, Senior Independent Director, stated that while Albert Manifold helped drive BP's transformation, the board was surprised and disappointed by unacceptable governance, oversight, and conduct issues. Ian Tyler has been appointed as Interim Chair. Tyler expressed confidence in the strategic direction and operational performance of BP under CEO Meg O'Neill, highlighting her actions to simplify and strengthen the organization. A succession process for a permanent Chair will be initiated. The announcement was made in accordance with SEC reporting rules and includes a cautionary statement regarding forward-looking statements.
